The Aspiring Law Professors Conference is designed to assist Visiting Assistant Professors and Fellows at law schools across the country who anticipate attending the AALS Faculty Recruitment Conference in Fall 2009.
Accommodation Information
We have been able to negotiate room rates at the following hotels. If you wish to share a room we are willing to help match you with a potential roommate—please check “Roommate Match” on the Registration Page for the Conference and we will be happy to assist.
Courtyard Marriott: $89 per night http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/phxte-courtyard-tempe-downtown/ 601 South Ash Avenue Tempe, Arizona 85281 Phone: 480-829-2800 CODE: VAP/ASU
The Courtyard Marriott is located approximately 1.5 miles from the law school—a good walk or a very short drive. The Courtyard Marriott is a comfortable clean hotel located near train tracks—so really light sleepers may want to request a room facing away from the tracks! A number of us have stayed there when interviewing and it is not that bad (and the hotel swears they have soundproofed their rooms of late).
Sheraton Four Points: $125 per night. http://specialoffers.starwoodhotels.com/Four_Points_Tempe/ 1333 Rural Road Tempe, AZ 85281 Phone: 480.968.3451 x4912 (ask for Judith and mention the ASU VAP Conference)
This Sheraton Four Points is across the street from the law school but is not as close to shops, restaurants etc. as either the Courtyard Marriott or Tempe Mission Palms. It has recently been renovated and is a comfortable, if not posh, place to stay.
Tempe Mission Palms: Not negotiated http://www.missionpalms.com/ 60 East Fifth Street Tempe, Arizona 85281 Phone: 480.894.1400
The Tempe Mission Palms is a resort hotel that is located very close to downtown Tempe which as restaurants and shops. It is approximately .5 miles from the law school. We have not negotiated any room rates with the Mission Palms but you may want to consider it if your budget allows and if they have rooms available (they often fill up months in advance).
